Barton Creek This Summer: A Resident's Field Guide to the Season the Neighborhood Grew Into

The creek is doing what it always does in July. By the time you get to the second limestone bench past Gus Fruh, the water is a suggestion, not a swim. What has changed is everything above the canyon rim. Between the Omni's expanded summer programming, a PGA TOUR event landing on Fazio Canyons in November, and a run of new tenants at Barton Creek Square, the calendar around 78735 and 78746 is fuller this year than it has been in a decade.

For residents, that inverts the usual summer instinct. The old move was to leave the neighborhood, drive to Zilker, park among tourists, and hike back toward the shade. This year the pull is the other direction.

The greenbelt, read by water level
